Legal Aid cuts in Criminal Law

Partner, Dev Jummoodoo, was on BBC Radio Surrey looking at the issues of inadequate legal aid funding, court closures, a lack of judges, court time and resources, as well as the issues with recruiting into criminal law.

Cases are currently taking over 6 months to go to court at Guildford Crown Court and there is an average delay of around 10 months at Kingston Crown Court. Dev discusses how the delays are impacting witness testimony and evidence, as well as the deterioration in mental health of those affected by the delays. Please see link below.
