Rosewood Solicitors has been crowned Law Firm of the Year by the Surrey Law Society (SLS). SLS held its delayed ceremony on 16 September in Guildford to recognise exceptional achievement and celebrate success despite a difficult period for everyone. The evening included a gala dinner alongside the awards ceremony, which was hosted by well-known legal figure Rob Rinder MBE.

Law Firm of the Year is the most hotly-contested award and in addition, Emma Patel, was also highly commended in the Family Lawyer of the Year category.

Rosewood Solicitors is run jointly by Emma Patel and Dev Jummoodoo and they have a team of 12 who undertake legal work in the areas of family, children, criminal, landlord and tenant disputes and food safety. The practice is located in Export House in the heart of Woking.

Partner Emma Patel said about the achievement. “We wanted to show that our law firm could still grow and thrive despite the disruption to operating caused by the pandemic. During this time, we invested in bringing in new people, training and developing our existing staff and expanding our pro bono activities. We have a very diverse team, and I couldn’t be prouder of how we have worked together to help our clients. Family conflict rose during lockdown and some of the protective interventions we made have been hugely significant for our clients.”

SLS Chief Executive Helen Opie said: “It was wonderful to bring the legal community of Surrey together again. We had more people than ever in attendance, more award nominations and our congratulations go to all of the category winners and of course Rosewood Solicitors.”
